The BMW 5-Series bows this new model year boasting several enhancements to both optional and standard equipment, as well as a new wagon body style. The 528 models are now available with a Sport-Premium Package, which combines the features of the Sport and Premium Packages into one. Other new features include a car and key memory system which allows individual users to tailor electronic functions to their own priorities and tastes, an infrared-reflecting windshield, and a new aluminum cylinder block for the standard 193 HP six-cylinder engine. New engineering options include a park distance control system which is an ultrasonic warning system for maneuvering in tight places, and Xenon headlights. The wagon models are based upon the sedans.
